Abstract

SANCHEZ ABALOS, Vicia; BOSCH COSTAFREDA, Carmen  and  SANCHEZ ABALOS, Tamara Mercedes. Choriocarcinoma with lung metastasis. MEDISAN [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.5, pp. 705-710. ISSN 1029-3019.

The case report of a 44 years female is presented, with a 32 weeks pregnancy, who was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of "Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso" Teaching General Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, for presenting acute respiratory failure due to a sepsis. The patient was treated with third generation cephalosporins and non invasive mechanical ventilation, but the hypoxemic gasometrical characteristic and a poor therapeutic reaction remained, so that instrumentation of the airways and hemodynamic support were required, without achieving improvement of the clinical pattern, which led to a cardiorespiratory arrest and with it, to death. The autopsy showed a choriocarcinoma of endometrium with lung metastasis

Keywords : pregnancy; choriocarcinoma; hypoxemia; lung metastasis; secondary health care.
