Abstract

An analytic, descriptive and retrospective study of 575 adolescents, assisted in the municipal outpatient colposcopy Department from "Camilo Torres Restrepo" Teaching Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from April, 2012 to the same period of 2013, in order to determine the incidence of infection due to the human papillomavirus of those affected. Among the risk factors related to this infection there were: sexual relations before 16 years without protection and 2 or more sexual couples in the last 6 months. This virus had a higher incidence in the 18-20 years patients (63.8%). The symptoms were not specific of this entity, but the subclinic type prevailed. The treatment with trichloroacetic acid to 20% was the most used and in none of the cases there was necessity to carry out surgery
