Abstract

Introduction: Mayarí had an incidence of 41 % in 2010 for ischemic heart disease morbidity of 2.1 per 100 inhabitants. Objective: to determine whether there was correspondence between clinical and pathologic diagnoses in patients who died for acute myocardial infarction in Mayarí municipality. Method: a series of cases descriptive study in 37 dead patients who underwent autopsy was carried out. The universe comprised 49 patients diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction in the hospital Mayarí from January 2009 to December 2010. Chi-square test was applied and relative frequency. Proportions with z were compared for independent samples and a significant level of 5 % in BIOESTAD 3.0. Results: male sex predominated (64.86 %) in the age group of 60-79 years (32.43 %), ECG and enzymatic studies reached the maximum effectiveness in most of patients with a relative frequency of 0.84. Conclusions: there was a clinical pathologic correspondence in most of cases. Most of deceased patients presented electrocardiographic and enzymatic alterations.
