Abstract

CANEDO ANDALIA, Rubén; CELORRIO ZARAGOZA, Ivonne; COELLO VELAZQUEZ, Denis  and  HIDALGO HERNANDEZ, Rubizeida. Contributions in PubMed between 2010 and 2014, of the Authors Affiliated to Health Institutions of Holguin, Cuba. ccm [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.2, pp. 385-390. ISSN 1560-4381.

Introduction: the analysis of the scientific output of an author, organization or region allows to measure its development in science. Objective: to identify the scientific production of researchers affiliated with the Provincial Health System of Holguin, processed in the PubMed database between 2010 and 2014. Methods: a strategy was developed and used for querying the PubMed database and a manual processing was performed. Results: the Center for Research and Rehabilitation of Hereditary Ataxias was the institution with the greatest number of contributions made, and its director, Doctor of Philosophy Luís Velázquez Pérez was the most productive author.  Doctor Pedro E. Miguel Soca, of the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin achieved outstanding results in scientific production from a strategy of progressive positioning. Conclusions: the implementation of a strategy of gradual positioning of health professionals of Holguin province, in journals processed by PubMed; as well as a more complete declaration of affiliation data of these authors in their contributions, may favor the increase presence of the publication of researchers of the territory in the database concerned. This strategy can be used in the whole country in general.
