Abstract

The nosocomial infection (NI) is a iatrogenic problem of international character that influences proportionally with the degree of development of the hospitals, the equipment, and the ever increasing use of the antimicrobials. It also has different repercussion and approaches depending on the ruling social system. In the present paper, the human, economic and social impact of this health problem on our setting is dealt with, and the fundamental aspects on which the working perspectives should be based in this sense are exposed.
