An assessment of the methodology established in the Medical School of Pinar del Río to conduct integral inspections of the medical studies and the experiences in the application of inspections during the academic courses 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 is carried out. The self-control and cross-integral control are achieved through the selection of a central team composed of experienced professors, directors, titular and consultant professors who are members of the academic board of the Medical School. A program of visits is established, it includes all scenes where teaching-educative process of medical studies is developed, controlling teaching activities, inquiring professors and students, and a documentary revision is carried out. The exams are applied to students with contents of the main subjects of every academic year, comprising the comprehensive formation and skills according to the level of medical training. During the courses 2005-2006 the five medical majors were completely inspected in the first term of the course 2006-2007. The majors of Health Technology and Nursing were also visited. The general result is assessed in a meeting with the board of directors in the Medical School, in the methodological commission and in a special staff of the medical studies. In general, a comprehensive diagnosis of every major, a plan to improve the quality and an advance in the quality of indicators of the educative-teaching process was performed with the purpose of achieving the standards of quality to allow the accreditation.
