CORO MONTANET, Gleyvis et al. The Department of Extracurricular Activities and the Teaching Staff in the Medical Science Majors. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2009, vol.13, n.3, pp. 118-125. ISSN 1561-3194.

ABSTRACT A survey was carried out in order to assess the quality of the extracurricular process in medical science majors measuring the knowledge level , the performance level and the personal assessment on the quality of the extracurricular activities carried out by professors of the main university venues in Pinar del Rio city during 2008 to 2009.Qualitative variables were used showing the different aspects of the extracurricular activities as well as the principal performers and the general knowledge of the surveyed people on the necessity of the community. A sample of 100 professors was surveyed , they were assigned to two groups with 50 individuals each group. Group A belonged to "Ernesto Che Guevara de la Serna" Medical School and Group B to the municipal medical venue . Data were presented in absolute and relative tables using the chi square test demonstrating that the community action projects were implemented with the majors as well as the extracurricular activities were considered properly by the professors. Students and professors were the main actors in these extracurricular activities receiving the municipal university venues more help from the directors of MINSAP as well as a more extensive vision on the community necessity, so the quality in the extracurricular activity was higher in the municipal university venues than in the central venue
