Abstract

MONTANO DIAZ, Marco Antonio  and  MARIN SUAREZ, Maricel. Clinical method and professional ethics. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.2, pp. 196-203. ISSN 1561-3194.

This study was aimed at reflecting on the application of the clinical method, a modality of scientific methods that should be used by medical doctors, dentists and psychologists when assisting patients directly. The good practice of this method has great advantages to patients, health professionals and to the country's economy. Dialectic interrelation existing between clinical method and medical ethics, the duty of the teaching staff of the three degree courses in medical sciences (as a part of pedagogical ethics), and its correct practice were analyzed. Concluding that, the adequate use of the clinical method can not exist without a strict application of the medical ethics; and at the same time, an acceptable ethical-professional performance of the teaching staff can not be present without incorporating a correct application and teaching of the clinical method.

Keywords : Professional ethics [education]; medical education.
