Abstract
CASTINEIRA LOPEZ, Dailín and MACHADO MARTINEZ, Miriam. The inclusion of facial aging in the teaching-learning process of Orthodontics. Gac Méd Espirit [online]. 2017, vol.19, n.1, pp. 16-20. ISSN 1608-8921.
Aging is a process that involves not only soft facial tissues but also bone structures, it can be caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors among which is mentioned today, orthodontic therapy with extractions or poorly planned orthognathic surgery. Orthodontic treatment can prolong the young appearance of a patient or accelerate the onset of aging. This is a theme that needs a pedagogical approach since in the training of orthodontic specialists these contents are not taught in initial and postgraduate training.
