Abstract

Background:

Heberprot-P® is a healing product for diabetic foot ulcer; this medication is used at Emilio Daudinot Bueno University Polyclinic in Guantánamo; so, a greater knowledge about scientific elements is necessary for its practical application with a comprehensive perspective.

Objective:

To describe the behavior of the use of Heberprot-P® in patients with diabetic foot ulcer at Emilio Daudinot Bueno University Polyclinic in Guantánamo municipality, from January 2017 to December 2018.

Methodology:

A descriptive observational study was carried out; the universe consisted of 140 patients who had the inclusion criteria: belonging to the health area and attending the diabetic foot ulcer clinic at the polyclinic. The information was obtained from the medical records of the assisted patients.

Results:

The age group 65-74 years, female sex, type 2 diabetes mellitus, smoking as a fundamental risk factor and with an etiological diagnosis of neuroinfectious diabetic foot ulcer and Wagner type 2 prevailed. It was not detected in most of the patients some adverse reaction when applying the medication.

Conclusions:

Most of the assisted patients evolved satisfactorily, this assures the effectiveness of Heberprot-P®.
