Abstract

OLVERA SALGADO, María Dolores; MONTIEL GUTIERREZ, Mario Alberto  and  ALPUCHE GARCES, Oscar. Technical indices for the productive conversion of non-irrigated to irrigated agriculture. RIHA [online]. 2013, vol.34, n.3, pp. 44-56. ISSN 1680-0338.

The construction of a hydroelectric dam on the coast of Oaxaca, México, may lead to changes in water availability for irrigation; therefore a productive orientation of the feasibility of irrigation area is required to ensure the volume of surface water meeting the demand of the current and future crops in the area affected by the construction of the dam. This determination is based on farm models and the application of the comparative method with indices generated by the interest and productive experience of the local farmers, fulfillment of their basic needs, orientation of public policy and sustainability of resources, important elements in decision-making.

Keywords : indices of productive orientation; comparative method; farm model.
