LUNA LOAYZA, Carlos; ALMANZA ASCUE, Marisol  and  NINA MAMANI, Rosa. Flood danger of Vilcanota river in the city of Pisac, Cusco 2018. riha [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.2, pp. 18-32.  Epub Mar 01, 2020. ISSN 1680-0338.

Floods constitute a natural hazard that over time has caused the loss of human lives and caused costly material damage. According to historical data, the city of Pisac suffered significant damage due to heavy rainfall, increased flow and overflow of the Vilcanota River. Due to this problem, the city of Pisac was taken as an object of study, in view of its high vulnerability to flooding. This research was based on the methodology of the National Center for the estimation, prevention and reduction of disaster risks (CENEPRED) through a process of hierarchical analysis of the conditioning factors and triggers chosen, resulting in a map of hazards, that shows sectors the most prone to be affected, which will help in the prevention and reduction of material, economic, social and cultural losses.

Keywords : hierarchical process analysis; floods; flood modeling; flood danger; GIS.
