A surgical procedure was decided due to a possible appendicitis; the surgical inform showed a little catarrhal. Pain continued and erythema and vesical lesions appeared in the right lumbar region that extended to the right flank. The dermatologist arrived to the conclusion that the diagnosis was herpes zoster. In a case of a patient with abdominal pain, the herpes zoster diagnosis should be taken into account for achieving a timely treatment and avoiding complications.
