Background: dental traumatism in children is a motive of frequent consultation in the stomatologic emergencies service. These lesions are produced in teeth, bones and other support tissues as a result of a physical impact on them. Aim: to describe the dental trauma in children aged 3-11 years of the municipality La Habana del Este. Materials and Methods: a cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out in the Stomatologic Emergencies Service of the policlinic “Wilfredo Santana”, municipality La Habana del Este, during the period September 2012- June 2014. The studied population was formed by 116 male and female children aged 3-11 years. The Ingeborg Jacobsen classification was used for determining the kind of lesions. Data obtained from the inquiry and physical examination, are filled in a form elaborated for that. Outcomes: dental traumatisms are more frequent in the 6-11 years age group (59.5 %), and in male children (67.3 %); there is a predominance of the no complicated crown fracture (26.7 %); parents gave the first aids (67.3 %) and the time from trauma to the beginning of the treatment was more than 24 hours in 48.3 % of the cases. Conclusions: more than half of the population showed dental trauma, with a predominance of the 6-11 ages year group and male gender. The most frequently diagnosed lesion was the no complicated crown fracture. Parents were who mostly gave the first aids. The affected children were treated after 24 hours.
