Abstract

Introduction: the evaluation has a great importance in the achievement and development of research abilities in medicine students from the first years of their studies. Objective: to design an evaluation of the research abilities in medicine students. Materials and Methods: a development research was carried out in the Teaching Policlinic Heroes del Moncada, municipality of Cardenas, province of Matanzas, during the school year 2012-2013. The research had two stages: design of the evaluation methodology and its validation.  The System of evaluation and accreditation of university specialties and the norms Style of Scientific Research Presentations ruling the students’ scientific activity were documentarily reviewed. The validation was made by experts’ criteria. Results: 3 dimensions and 13 evaluative indicators conform the evaluation guide. Conclusions: the evaluation methodology of research abilities in medicine students facilitates the collection of all the necessary information to determine risks or deviations that could negatively influence on their quality and implementing a plan of actions or measures to carry out modifications and adjustments.
