Abstract

GARCIA PELAEZ, Soledad Yanedy; DOMENECH LA ROSA, Liset; DE LOS RIOS MARI, Rosemarie  and  CASTELLANO CABRERA, Zeila. COVID-19 from a dental perspective. Rev Hum Med [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.3, pp. 932-950.  Epub Dec 15, 2021. ISSN 1727-8120.

A bibliographic review was carried out to deepen preventive measures for dental care in times of COVID-19 based on the information obtained from texts and journals consulted in reference centers and through electronic locators. The preparation of personnel in the clinical area can reduce the risk of exposure to themselves and to patients, since various studies point to saliva as the most effective means of transfer of the disease. It was specified that the questioning, in search of characteristic symptoms of the disease, constitutes the first line of work. It was confirmed that the implementation of extra-protective measures, hygiene and hand washing, both for professionals and patients, and the solution of dental emergencies without the use of rotary instruments are important aspects to combat and stop from dentistry, the spread of the virus.

Keywords : COVID-19; dentistry; infection control.
