Abstract

The review of some historical Medicine papers, thesis and other scientific documents, had as an objective, to describe different process of variolization utilised by mankind untill the upcoming of the smallpox vaccine. We consider that variolization was an important incentive in the upcoming of another procedure, harmless and efficacious: vaccination.
