We present this paper in order to contribute to the historical knowledge about the introduction of Stem Cell Therapy on Periodontal diseases in Cuba. It started on January the 15th, 2008 in William Soler Pediatric Hospital, in collaboration with the Institute of Hematology and Immunology. A transplant of Autolog Hemopoyetic Stem Cell, mobilized from peripheral blood by applying Granulocytes Colony Stimulating Factor was used treating bone defects due to periodontal disease. During following monts, 8 patients underwent this therapy. Here we thoroughly describe the results of the first five cases, treated on the upper section through perfusion of the cells concentrate on bone defects, without flap. For all cases the most outstanding results on the gums were: full normality seven days after the infusion; three months later, X ray examination showed radiopacity on the former bone defects, what it is compatible with new bone formation. Six months later, we observed a significant decrease in the amount and depth of pouches, as well as teeth mobility. We remark that the results by using the flap procedure were similar to those with cell infusion alone.
