Diabetes Mellitus is of the outmost importance to be one of the most frequent non communicable disease and for the severity of their chronic complications. We carried out a descriptive study in families of twelve medical clinics of the Havana City, with objectives of to describe the behavior of the risk factors and consequent illnesses of the atherosclerosis and to determine the relationship among the diabetes with the risk factors and the consequent illnesses. The principal results were: prevalence prevails of patients' passive smoking, sedentary diabetics, with circumference of the increased waist, with family diabetes antecedents and hypertension. The most frequent illness was the cardiovascular one. The circumference of the altered waist, the family diabetes antecedent, the arterial hypertension, heart diseases, the cerebrovascular diseases and the Outlying Arterial Illness presented a high associate risk.
