The present research was based on the necessity of changing the nursing pre-courses formative curriculum, amongst a fast developing social context. The improvement process should support the preservation of main quality components of a curriculum intended to educate nurse bachelors in a contemporary environment. Method: a methodological triangulation was performed in order to establish a theoretical model of content structuring based on previously established theoretic and methodological support. The data from the analysis and synthesis of all the documentation, the results of two focal groups of experts and the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing curriculum were all put together in a transformation process since 2004 to 2009, in order to fulfill the requirements of the curriculum D. The goal of establishing a content structuring theoretical model was achieved. It was designed in agreement with the requests of the social context, with the proposed methodological basis and as part of a Cuban social system intended to educate nurses with an early and growing development of professional skills in accordance with the contemporary professional requirements at all levels of the national health system. The applied methods were allowed the achievement of the objetive and also to rehearse a working methodology very helpful when designing the curriculum.
