Abstract

Progressivity is a viable option for the construction of the social housing in the city, it allows to reduce the initial investment and can be transformed, improved and completed through time, according to the necessities, possibilities and preferences of the home members. The development of progressive housings as an alternative to the strictness of most of the residence current plans, it can contribute to decrease the quantitative and qualitative deficit of the city.The Cuban experience in the subject is short, except for the “growing housing” that population builds for own means. However, there are other types of housing that also allow to be inserted in contexts with knowledeges values and to achieve average densities. This article summarizes the results of an investigation and analyzes the main international experiences, identifying the best practices for its possible application in the national context.
