Abstract

ROCHA BARROS, Rafael Mendonça; VILELA FERREIRA, Tarso  and  GUEDES DA COSTA, Edson. Determining optimal positioning ring Equalizer in Polymeric Insulation. Energética [online]. 2013, vol.34, n.2, pp. 89-97. ISSN 1815-5901.

The behavior of the electric field near the line terminal of a polymeric insulator was studied in function of positioning the ring equalizer, with the objective of determining the optimal position for installing the same. Additionally the use of glass insulators like extension in polymeric insulators was also evaluated. The electric field distribution was determined by means of computer simulations based on the Finite Element Method. The results suggest an optimal position for installing the equalizer ring and led to some conclusions about the use of glass insulators as extension.

Keywords : rings equalizers; distribution of electric field; polymeric insulators; finite elements method.
