Abstract

Wireless channel propagation models are very important in network and systems design, because of its great diversity, it is necessary to determine the most effective models for each environment. This paper presents a performance evaluation of a set of propagation models in urban and suburban environments. The impact of the base station height on model predictions is determined, highlighting the sensitivity of those that include detailed environment information in its formulation. Finally, the predictions of the evaluated models are compared with actual measurements, being Hata and Walfisch-Ikegami identified as the most accurate models for its applicability in these environments.
