Abstract

CORRALES-SUAREZ, Jorge Michel et al. Energy saving in tandem of sugar cane mills by means regulation of hydraulic pressures. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.3, pp. 186-193. ISSN 1815-5944.

Among the areas of more energy consumption in a sugar power station is the tandem of mills. One of the variables that influences on this consumption is the hydraulic pressure applied to the superior mass. The investigation had as objective to determine the possibilities to reduce this consumption regulating the hydraulic pressures appropriately without diminishing the efficiency of the extraction process, it was carried out in a tandem of six mills where alone it was varied the pressures in the intermediate mills according to a complete factorial statistical design 24. The independent variables were: the hydraulic pressures in the intermediate mills; the dependents: the demand of power, the %pol and %humidity. You concluded that under the conditions of the experiment, the employment of hydraulic pressures of smaller work in 3,45 MPa in the intermediate mills, didn't affect the process of extraction of the sucrose, but it diminished in 8,12 % the demand of power.

Keywords : hydraulic pressure; sugar cane mill; saving energy; tandem.
