Abstract

BARROS DIAZ, Otilia; CORDERO MACHADO, Javier  and  GARCIA BELLO, Mignelys. Villa Clara. Dynamics and population's composition. Period 2000-2017. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.29, pp. 82-97.  Epub Oct 15, 2019. ISSN 1817-4078.

The objective of the article is to characterize the dynamics and composition of the population of the province of Villa Clara in the period 2000-2017 with emphasis on the trends of the main variables of population change. The results presented point towards a sustained loss of population due to the negative balance of births and deaths as of 2015 and the continuous emigration flow throughout the period, which has determined an acceleration of the population aging, mainly in the internal structures of the population; what will have, in the short and medium term, a compromising incidence in relation to the planning of the economic and social development of the provinces in terms of their human resources.

Keywords : Annual growth rate of the population; natural growth rates; mechanical growth rates; demographic dependency.
