Abstract

In terms of public management of aging, it is necessary to reflect on how prepared Cuban society is from the local to assume its challenges, given the advanced demographic transition, for this comprehensive statistics are required in which the demographic becomes the transversal axis, for this reason arose this investigation with the objective of evaluating the problematic of the demographic aging in the Municipality of Santiago de Cuba to establish proposals of improvements to the decision making process linked with other economic statistics, health, environment, among others. From the documentary research it was possible to establish the logic of the research divided into four aspects: generic data, structure, dynamics and territorial distribution of the population, which supported on the available statistical basis made it possible to know the reality of aging at the municipal level and propose improvements to statistics on the demography of aging for its insertion in local development.
