Abstract The incidence of visual incapacity in patients with rheumatic disease is a factor that increases the physical incapacity in these persons. We report the case of a 53 year old, female, from a rural area, with Antecedents of suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for 34 years and other diseases such as Hypertension and diabetes mellitus. She was treated with different medications such as anti-inflammatory steroids as well as the disease modifier drugs, insulin and Amlodipino. Around 3 years ago she had been having slow and progressive loss of vision which did not improve with the use of glasses. Then she was evaluated by the ophthalmologist and a surgical treatment for bilateral cataracts was indicated to improve her life quality. After surgery the patient had a good recovery
