Abstract

PADRON GONZALEZ, Alexander Ariel  and  DORTA CONTRERAS, Alberto Juan. Activation of the complement through lectins: role in rheumatic diseases. Rev Cuba Reumatol [online]. 2017, vol.19, suppl.1, pp. 231-234. ISSN 1817-5996.

The complement system is activated in three pathways: classical, alternative and lectins. The lest one belongs to the innate immune system and it is the oldest in the phylogeny is still under descovering. It is vital in the defense against numerous microorganisms, but sometimes its activation produces inflammatory processes harmful to the host that cause many diseases such as some rheumatic disorders.
