Ecuadorian education is currently developed on the basis of a new educational-legal context, it is essential an academic offer that applies in an interdisciplinary manner, research, linking and teaching, to contribute to the integral formation of the human being. The objective of the article is to investigate the necessary curricular changes, so that the career of Pedagogy of the National and Foreign Languages specializes in English at the Technical University of the North, responding to the demands of the current educational system. A quantitative-qualitative research was applied to generate knowledge taking as a starting point the social and cultural context of the studied population. The future redesign must incorporate innovations that resolve the current limitations of the graduates of the career; through the use of methods such as Content Language Integrated Learning, which shares holistic and heuristic qualities under a constructivist, communicative approach and at the same time should promote research as a means of educational improvement in a theory-practice synergy
