Abstract

The article shows the importance that environmental education has for international organizations and how Colombia through its public policies of environmental education fulfills this global social mandate. To investigate its inclusion in the Colombian educational system, a comparative analysis is made between the national and local curricular design, with the review of a study presented by the Secretary of Education of Santiago de Cali to evaluate, diagnose and systematically plan the School Environmental Projects (PRAE), based on the characteristics of the projects and their inclusion in the teaching-learning process. The results show a gap between what is stipulated in the national curricular design and its practical concretion in the official educational institutions of the city. To collect evidence of the inclusion of PRAE as a transversal axis in the teaching-learning process, 32 PRAE were analyzed.
