Abstract

DUCHE PEREZ, Aleixandre Brian  and  BLAZ SIALER, David Isaac. Education and emerging middle classes in metropolitan lima: A critical perspective. Conrado [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.69, pp. 119-125.  Epub Sep 02, 2019. ISSN 1990-8644.

The present text analyzes the increasing importance of private educational institutions in the education of the emerging middle classes in Lima (Peru). The study shows that this boom in private education arose thanks to the neoliberal educational policies implemented by the Fujimori government and the emergence of a new type of middle class that focused its identity on a pragmatic ideal of individual progress. The main characteristics that define private educational institutions in Lima and their means of reproduction are shown.

Keywords : Emerging Middle Class; private education; educational institutions.
