Abstract

The objective of this article is to determine the level of understanding of mathematical problems in the execution of the resolution plan in students of Basic General Education, Middle Level of the San Alfonso Educational Unit in Ecuador. A quantitative study was conducted in which the survey called AC6 was applied to a sample of students. Additionally, an estimation scale was used, in which the teacher recorded the observations and answers given by the students to the mathematical problems raised. The data obtained were analyzed with statistical procedures. It was concluded that the students presented difficulties in understanding and inferring the content presented in the approach to the mathematical problem, which makes it difficult to make decisions in the resolution plan; the establishment of relations with the literal and numerical data and the obtaining of results after the resolution of the mathematical problem.
