The lack of ethical principles in scientific research such as falsification and plagiarism is a problem that affects the scientific community at the present time. The bad behaviors in this sense affect the originality of the manuscript, they question the prestige of the researcher and the journal that disseminates it. The purpose of this article is to conduct a discussion on the ethical aspects and legal responsibilities that must be met in an investigation; as well as some of the specialized resources for the detection of plagiarism that are available. It is considered that the application of good practices and compliance with ethical principles provides credibility to the research results and reliability to the science to which it belongs.
