Within the process of higher education, the public and private universities have had within their activities the urgent need to address changes in the training system including student academic tutoring, however, without a prior horizon and without preliminary results should be demonstrated the validity of the system in such a way as to motivate the rest of the teachers to carry out this activity. Consequently, the objective is to strengthen the responsibility and autonomy of university students to improve their personal development and academic performance, designing a support program through training in learning strategies that affects the academic performance of the student. Tutoring is a function of the teachers with the aim of guiding and accompanying individually or in groups the academic development of the university student. Promoting teaching-learning techniques, establishing monitoring processes to strengthen their comprehensive training in academic decision-making. The results show that mentoring is based on the development of curricular competences and learning achievements in such a way that students are encouraged to comply with the activities throughout their training, being necessary the application of the tutorials that they increase student learning outcomes and decrease the risk of student desertion.
