Abstract

This project is intended to carry out a simulation using a computer tool that allows measuring the functionality of fiber optics with GPON technology on the UTEQ campus. Technological evolution has allowed man to create objects, devices and technologies, to meet needs or solve problems; This is how the means of transmission have evolved from communication through signs to communication at a distance by means of a beam of light. GPON networks are being implemented in the world as a solution of Passive Optical Networks (PON - Passive Optical Network) (Arévalo et al. 2017) allows to transmit information at Gigabit speeds, where an exclusive fiber optic thread is carried to the end user. Technological mechanisms such as a fully optical access network and passive optical components (optical splitters) applied in the external network considerably reduce operating costs.
