Abstract

SANCHEZ TRUJILLO, María de los Ángeles; BERNABE-SANCHEZ, Estefanía; SAENZ-EGUSQUIZA, Felícita Delia  and  RODRIGUEZ FLORES, Eduar Antonio. Methodological strategy for the improvement of oral production in university students. Conrado [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.95, pp. 7-19.  Epub Dec 10, 2023. ISSN 1990-8644.

The objective of this study was to implement a methodological strategy to improve oral production in Education students, belonging to the first cycle of a private university in Lima. The approach is mixed, and the design is action research. The sample consisted of 75 students. Three phases were considered: the diagnosis, the design of the proposal, and the application and evaluation phase. In the diagnosis, a checklist was applied to evaluate the initial state of the students' oral production, as well as a semi-structured interview addressed to 5 first-cycle teachers. Subsequently, the strategy based on collaborative work and guided inquiry was designed. Finally, in the third phase, semi-structured observation was applied to identify the progress of the students, both at the process level and the final product, in addition to a checklist for their individual productions, a documentary analysis guide for their group schemes of planning, and a semi-structured interview with Communication teachers. Among the findings, the development of the topic and soft skills stand out as main strengths. Also, their physical and oral resources improved, although diction and voice volume still represent opportunities for improvement.
