Studying the prison system in the law school curriculum implies understanding the complexities of the criminal justice system and the role it plays in the repression of individuals. The preparation of future legal professionals in the field of the prison system may involve a variety of strategies and methods. As future specialists in Penitentiary Law, students must develop skills, since they will be facilitators of the different possibilities that will improve the conditions of the prisoner throughout this process of the convicted person's stay in prison, due to their obligation to provide legal guidance regarding the legal situation of people deprived of liberty. Having skills to care for people deprived of liberty, family members and visitors, responding to requests for information from people deprived of liberty and their families, are part of the skills to be developed for the effective performance of their professional future on the subject. For the development of the investigation, the TOPSIS investigative method was used, as a way of solving problems. Finally, the necessary competencies were established to develop an effective performance in the education and teaching of Law students.
