LEOCADIO, Pascual; QUINTANA VALDES, Aurelio and BUDEN SERRANO, Inés de la Caridad. The Teaching-Learning Process of Mathematics at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. Challenges. Varona [online]. 2024, n.79 Epub Jan 12, 2024. ISSN 1992-8238.
Learning mathematics is key for the scientific, technological and economic development of any country. However, in the Dominican Republic, students' academic results in this area are low. The article states the main insufficiencies of students that affect these results at different levels of education and particularly at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. The objective of the article is to expose and argue the causes of the low results in learning mathematics. Scientific theoretical, empirical and statistical methods based on the review of articles in high-impact journals, research papers and theoretical-methodological references linked of mathematics were applied. The main results of the exploratory study carried linked to of the Basic Mathematics subject in the basic cycle in which some causes and influencing factors were identified are described. Based on the results, a variable operationalization proposal was made, which was assessed by expert criteria as Fairly Adequate. Finally, factors that may influence are presented, as well as some actions that contribute to its improvement.
