Abstract

SALLES CABRERA, Lisette  and  QUINTANA SALLES, Adianez. Media and Information Literacy Curricular Strategy for Elementary Education Students´s Career. Varona [online]. 2024, n.79  Epub Jan 13, 2024. ISSN 1992-8238.

Higher Education Institutions in Cuba, due to the unquestionable impact of Information and Communication Technologies, face enormous challenges. The new social scenario, brought about by ICTs, has promoted relevant changes in the link between the user and the information. Therefore, this article aims at proposing a curricular strategy aimed at the AMI of Primary Education students, which contributes to their graduation with a media culture and the development of skills that allow them to access, analyze, evaluate, create and act using the various forms of communication. From a dialectical-materialistic conception, the use of qualitative methods is emphasized, among which documentary analysis and triangulation of sources stand out. A survey was also applied to university students studying at the University of Pedagogical Sciences "Enrique José Varona". The results showed the insufficient media preparation of the sample and the need to work on media literacy from the subjects of the curriculum, in order to promote the interpretative skills of students, to build critical subjects in front of information and to achieve a better academic training of future education professionals.
