Abstract

Introduction:

In view of the appearance of COVID-19, an unknown disease, declared pandemic, it is necessary to train workers of the Central State Administration, mass organizations and population in general, to face with an intersectoral approach the prevention and control measures, in order to contain to the minimum the risk of introduction and dissemination of the New Coronavirus in Cuba.

Objective:

To characterize the training given by all the universities of medical sciences of the country to the workers of the State Central Administration Organisms and other sectors, to the cadres of the mass organizations and population in general within the framework of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods:

A descriptive, cross-sectional, observational study was carried out on the training given on the new coronavirus. The universe consisted of 1,458,250 workers and 557,723 mass organizations to be trained from February 3 to March 30, 2020.

Results:

1,458,250 workers from Central State Administration Agencies and other sectors and 557,723 mass organizations were trained throughout the country, in two stages.

Conclusions:

Cuba has a high number of workers belonging to other sectors and mass organizations trained to face COVID-19, which has allowed the country to be considered among those with the best results in the containment of the disease.
