LUGO VALDES, Midiala; GAMBOA DIAZ, Yadira; GARCIA VARGAS, Alexandro  and  RAMOS RODRIGUEZ, Ana Olivia. The strategic planning of the Medical Sciences Branch "Piti" Fajardo in times of COVID-19. Infodir [online]. 2021, n.36  Epub Apr 04, 2022. ISSN 1996-3521.

Introduction:

Strategic planning is developed in any organizational system or institution, whether academic, health, among others. Thus, Solimano and Gonzalez, in the School of Public Health of the University of Chile, founded in 1942, based their planning on 3 axes: to generate an academic work of excellence, to strengthen the relationship with the environment and to establish a modern organization at the service of academic work.

Objective:

To apply a strategic planning model that meets the needs of the institution in the current times of contingency.

Methods:

Historical, dialectical and modeling methods were used. Documents were reviewed and interviews were conducted to design a strategic planning model for the "Piti" Fajardo Medical Sciences Branch, conceived as a product of the analysis of the strategic and participative management models, procedures and techniques adequate to the new conditions of the institution.

Results:

The structuring of the teaching work was carried out, determining the main directions of the teaching-methodological work during the transition from the face-to-face modality of studies to distance education, both in the undergraduate and graduate programs and researches where the basic principles of management were oriented towards team work.

Conclusions:

The strategic planning allowed the transition from traditional to distance education guaranteeing the continuity of the educational teaching process in the undergraduate and graduate of the institution in the times of COVID-19.

Keywords : strategic planning; distance education; management.
