Abstract

CARRENO CUADOR, Jenry  and  PAREDES ESPONDA, Esther. Triangular cooperation in the diversification of the export of Cuban medical services. Infodir [online]. 2021, n.36  Epub Apr 04, 2022. ISSN 1996-3521.

Introduction:

International Cooperation has a long history throughout the development of humanity, but it is from 1945, with the creation of the United Nations Organization that the need to establish formal channels of international cooperation is strengthened. International cooperation is a set of international actions and tools aimed at mobilizing resources and exchanging experiences to achieve common goals. International cooperation in health is always a high priority for the development of the nations involved. Triangular cooperation is a mixed variant of international cooperation.

Objective:

To evaluate triangular cooperation as part of Cuba's international technical cooperation in health.

Development:

A documentary research was carried out, based on a review of publications of organizations and institutions dedicated to managing and supporting non-profit cooperation between countries. The most widespread and diverse experiences on triangular cooperation were found in Japan, which participated since 1975 in Africa, Asia and Latin America, with the training and sending of experts to third countries with the support of neighboring countries. In 1984, the document Guidelines for the promotion of technical cooperation among developing countries and economic cooperation among developing countries in the health sector was published with the collaboration of the Pan American Health Office, where increasing and effective support for cooperation among countries was established as a priority.

Conclusions:

Cuba has participated in various triangular cooperation projects with countries in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Keywords : international cooperation in health; triangular cooperation; triangular technical cooperation; triangular South-South cooperation.
