Abstract
URGELLES CARRERAS, Sara et al. Intensive Obstetric Surveillance Service for the follow-up of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Infodir [online]. 2022, n.37 Epub Apr 04, 2022. ISSN 1996-3521.
Introduction:
Since the declaration of the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 in March 2020, the governments of the affected countries face a crisis in the economic, political and social sectors. The major challenge is the organization of medical services to cope with the impact of the disease.
Objective:
Presentation the strategy of the Management of Mother and Child Center for the care of obstetric patients with mild COVID-19 pneumonia at "Dr. Luis Díaz Soto" Hospital.
Development:
Due to the increase of pregnant and puerperal women infected by SARS-CoV-2, with diagnosis of pneumonia during the first months of the year 2021, the obstetric intensive surveillance service was organized to guarantee the study, treatment and follow-up of obstetric patients with inflammatory pneumopathy, without signs of respiratory failure. In this room, actions were defined to complement the care protocol established by the Ministry of Public Health to prevent unfavorable evolution to severity, and avoid admission to the intensive care unit with the consequent risk of nosocomial infection superadded in that area.
Conclusions:
With the obstetric intensive surveillance service, adequate follow-up and medical care of pregnant and puerperal women with mild pneumonia admitted to the institution is achieved.
