Abstract

CAICEDO CAMPOSANO, Oscar; BALMASEDA ESPINOSA, Carlos  and  PROANO SARAGURO, Jaime. Hydraulic evaluation of subfoliar sprinkler irrigation system in banana (Musa paradisiaca) in San José 2 ranch, Los Ríos province, Ecuador. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.1, pp. 38-43. ISSN 2071-0054.

In order to assess subfoliar sprinkler irrigation quality, the hydraulic evaluation of the sprinkler irrigation system in banana farm was carried out at three different pressures in five modules of the system. The evaluated indicators were: pressures to the beginning and final of the lateral, flows in those same points, coefficient of uniformity of Christiansen, distribution uniformity and area irrigated appropriately. The results show that the variation of the pressure surpass 20%, while in the flows it overcomes 10%. It was proven that high coefficients of uniformity do not mean the biggest area irrigated appropriately. The three pressures of work evaluated guarantee high coefficients of uniformity, however, if what is wanted is to reach the biggest appropriately irrigated area it should be worked to 310,26 kPa.

Keywords : sprinkler irrigation; uniformity; pressure head.
