Abstract

The development of the information and communication technologies, and the emergence of the content facilitating systems, have favored the development of the virtual classrooms in university teaching, as they offer the possibility to overcome geographical, social and personal barriers. Because of this, distance education through computers has become a model with many followers at international level. The implementation of virtual classrooms in university teaching in Cuba has favored the training and upgrading of health professionals and technicians, inside the country and also abroad. This article aims at bringing up aspects related with the use of these new spaces for teaching in the university level, with special emphasis in the Cuban medical education.
