The objective of this work is to value the role of the Philosophy and Society discipline to the development of the competences in the formation of doctors; some points of view are presented in relation to this topic through the theoretical treatment and opinions given by different consulted specialists, particularly through the experience of the authors. It can be expressed that the Philosophy and Society discipline contributes to the development of competences of doctors in Cuba. They constitute the expression of humanistic, researching, socio-affective and communicative competences which synthesize being, knowing and doing, as well as the capacities to develop as such in the social, cultural and Professional environment. Being of social, humanistic and researching nature, this favors the development of abilities, capacities, attitudes and judgments.
