The contributing theory to the process of improvement in the educational institutions is an imperative for the new and future university. This article approaches how quality, evaluation, accreditation and management are integrated to reach the continuous improvement in higher education and their coherence in the Cuban universities. The authors express conceptions about the progress of these educational centers and they argue how the continuous improvement is conceived within the framework of the strategic management; they deepen in the principles, the advance actions and the types of improvement; they also expose and they exemplify the proposed methodological procedures for the conformation of a responsive plan for the inadequacies of the self-assessment for an institution, taking into account the experience in "Felix Varela Morales" University of Pedagogic Sciences which was introduced in Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences.
