Abstract

Background: the researching abilities constitute a necessity for the health technicians, since they prepare the graduate to face the demands of the current scientific-technical development successfully. Objective: to characterize the difficulties presented in the development of the researching abilities through the Methodology of the Scientific Investigation subject in the professional technical teaching of the Medical Sciences University Site in Cienfuegos. Methods: it was carried out a cross-sectional descriptive study from September 2014 to January 2015; the sample comprised all the second year students of the already mentioned teaching modality. Methods of the theoretical level were used: analytic-synthetic, inductive-deductive and historical-logical; of the empiric level: the documental analysis; and mathematical-statistical: the statistical package SPSS version. 11.5. was used for the percentage analysis of the obtained results Results: the main difficulties in the development of the researching abilities of the professional technical teaching were diagnosed, through the subject of Methodology of the Scientific Investigation; according to the analysis of the researching reports the biggest deficiencies were found in the appropriate review of the bibliography, the identification and formulation of the scientific problem, in the determination and work with the study variables and in the oral defense of the reports, and the main successes were in determining the universe and the study sample, to elaborate the objectives and to identify and to define the scientific problem. Conclusions: the deficiencies related with the researching abilities of the students were characterized through the oral and written reports.
