Abstract

ENRIQUEZ GONZALEZ, Carilaudy et al. Preparation of nursing professors to the professional reafirmation of the students. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2017, vol.9, n.1, pp. 142-160. ISSN 2077-2874.

Background: professional reaffirmation is the consolidation of motives, interests, essential knowledge and professional skills in nursing students. Objective: to develop methodological actions to prepare teachers of gyneco-bstetrics and Community Nursing in professional reaffirmation of its fifth- year of the new educational model of the nursing career actions. Methods: a prospective study was carried out within the qualitative-quantitative approach at Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences, from September 2014 to July 2015. Theoretical methods were used: historical and logical and systemic-structural; Empirical ones: documentary analysis, survey to teachers in questionnaire form, observing classes, Iadov technique, ten wishes technique and criteria of external evaluators; and mathematical methods, percentage analysis. Results: deficiencies were found in the preparation of teachers to provide treatment to professional reaffirmation, including: insufficient use of diagnosis of students and potential of content as well as poor command of the professional model and a predominance of extrinsic motivations of the students for career selection. From the diagnosis made methodological actions were proposed comprising three subsystems, which were valued by experts criteria. Conclusions: actions contribute to increasing the methodological training of teachers for the proposed task and were assessed as relevant, innovative, feasible and appropriate to apply due to its scientific and methodological nature.
