Abstract

GONZALEZ VELIZ, Alejandro et al. Very late thrombosis of a bare metal stent: An unexpected event. CorSalud [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.3, pp. 367-371.  Epub Sep 01, 2021. ISSN 2078-7170.

Very late stent thrombosis is a rare complication but with high morbidity and mortality. Predisposing factors include clinical, anatomical and procedure-related parameters. Many pathophysiological mechanisms are considered to be responsible for stent thrombosis. The treatment of this complication consists of attempting to restore blood flow as soon as possible. We present the case of an individual diagnosed with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction after very late thrombosis of conventional bare metal stent (20 months). The patient was successfully treated by percutaneous coronary intervention with two sirolimus-eluting stents.
